Highly desirable form of the species with darkest indigo nearly black flowers. Free flowering June to September. 18” x 12”. Moist peaty soil. Z8.
KNIPHOFIA UVARIA GRANDIFLORA.
Hybrids of the original ‘Red Hot Poker’. Bright red and orange spikes, July to September. 3ft x 3ft. Z5
LIGULARIA JAPONICA.
Large 18in. deeply divided leaves. Bright yellow flowers on 3ft stems in July and August. Moist soil. Z5.
LIGULARIA PREZWALSKI.
Attractive deeply cut dark green leaves; purple stems topped by spires of small yellow flowers in mid and late summer, 5ft x 3ft.Z5.
LOBELIA SYPHLITICA.
A hardy and reliable lobelia, truly perennial in damp heavy soil. Spires of clear blue flowers from August to September on 3ft stems. Z6.
LOBELIA TUPA.
A magnificent large plant. It produces numerous stems to 4ft, topped by spikes of unusual red claw like flowers. Blooms July to October. Requires well drained soil, and the rootstock may need protection in severe winters. 4ft x 3ft. Z8 borderline.
LYCHNIS CHALCEDONICA
Maltese cross. Heads of bright scarlet four petalled flowers from June to September on stout dark leaved stems. Easy and reliable30” x 12”. Z6.
LYCHNIS CHALCEDONICA ‘DUSKY PINK’
A new form of the old favourite above, shorter with larger heads of salmon pink flowers. 18” x 18”. Z6.
LYCHNIS VISCARIA FIREBIRD
Mat forming foliage. Stems to 2ft carrying bright red flowers from May to August. Z5.
LYSIMACHIA CILIATA ‘FIRECRACKER’.
A form of the species grown for its useful burgundy coloured foliage on upright stems to 3ft. Clear yellow flowers are produced in summer. Z4.
LYTHRIUM VIRGATUM ‘ROSY GEM’.
Stately plant to 4ft, smothered in purplish pink flowers from June to September. Likes boggy ground but grows in any reasonably moist soil. Z6.
