PEROVSKIA ATRIPLICIFOLIA ‘BLUE SPIRE’

Greyish white stems with small toothed grey leaves clothed in late summer with spires of lavender like flowers. An open graceful plant up to 3ft x 18”. Z7. 

PERSICARIA AFFINE

syn. Polygonum affine.  Mat forming evergreen with 3” dark green leaves which turn brown in winter,  bearing 3” spikes of rose pink flowers from mid-summer to mid-autumn. A very useful carpeter, 8” x 24” or more.Z7

 PERSICARIA BISTORTA.

 Forms a basal clump of masses of rather dock like leaves, and bears bottle brush shaped spikes of pink bell shaped flowers from early summer to mid-autumn.Easy and reliable. 2ft x 3ft. Z6.

 PHLOMIS RUSSELLIANA.

Large rough leaves makes good low ground cover. Stout 3ft. stems with pairs of leaves at intervals, each pair of leaves topped with a butter yellow ball of flowers. Blooms May to September. Z6.

 PHLOX PANICULATA ‘FUJIYAMA’

A splendid late flowering cultivar, reaching about 4ft without requiring staking. Pale green leaves and large heads of snow white flowers in September. Z5.

 PHLOX PANICULATA ‘STARFIRE’.

Vibrant deep red, with red tinged foliage. Early flowering from mid-summer. 3ft. Z5.

 PHORMIUM TENAX PURPUREUM

A purple leaved form of New Zealand flax.  Erect sword like leaves which can reputedly reach  as much as 10ft, more often about 4ft. Mature plants bear spikes of dark red flowers.   Z8.

PHYSOSTEGIA VIRGINIANA ‘CROWN OF SNOW’

Upright perennial bearing spikes or trumpet shaped white flowers from June to September. Damp soil. 3ft x 2ft. Z5.

 POLEMONIUM BOREALE ‘HEAVENLEY HABIT’.

Erect plant to 15in. with a basal clump of divided foliage. Violet flowers in clusters above the foliage in mid-summer. A neat form of Jacob’s Ladder. Z5.

 POLYGONATUM ODORATUM PLURIFLORUM ‘VARIEGATUM’.

Stems arching to 3ft., with 5in. lance shaped leaves with white edges. Flowers in clusters, white green tipped bell shaped in May, followed by blue-black berries. Z4

 POLYGONATUM HYBRIDUM.

Solomon’s Seal. Arching stems to 3ft. carrying 8in. lance shaped leaves. From June the stems carry white bells along their undersides. Z4. 

POTENTILLA ‘MONARCH’S VELVET’

Bi-coloured flowers, crimson with darker red centres, from July through to the first frost. 2ft x 1ft. Z7. 

POTENTILLA NEPALENSIS ‘MISS WILLMOT’

Mid green lobed leaves with 1” saucer shaped dark pink flowers throughout summer 12” x 24”. Z7. 

POTENTILLA ‘GIBSON’S SCARLET’

As above  but with bright scarlet flowers. Z7.

 PRUNELLA GRANDIFLORA.

Dense creeping patches of ground cover 6 in. high, with decorative flowers attractive to bees. Upright flower spikes with purple flowers. Blooms June to August. Z5.

 PULSATILLA VULGARIS ‘RODE KLOKKE’.

a form of Pasque Flower with rich dark red blooms. The cup shaped flowers have the same silky texture and gold central boss. Finely divided  fern like leaves.  1ft x 1ft. Z6.
