PSEUDOSASA JAPONICA.
A hardy vigorous species reaching between 10-15ft. Olive green canes with dark glossy green leaves up to 1ft long. Very straight branches, hence the common name”Arrow Bamboo”. Wind and shade tolerant. Z7.
SASA KURILENSIS.
Rapidly spreading ground cover when established. Large glossy light green leaves on arching stems to about 3ft. Very hardy and tolerant of shade and wind. Z5.
SASA PALMATA.
A vigorous species which can spread rapidly in favourable conditions such as at Heligon, but does not in our soil . Large leaves up to 1ft long on stout arching stems. 6ft x indefinite. Z7.
SASA VEITCHII.
Quite large dark green leaves which lose some of the green pigment at the edges in winter giving a variegated effect. About 4ft but will run in some soils and can be restricted in a container or contained by mowing or strimming. Z7.
SHIBATEA KUMASASA.
Evergreen clump forming bamboo, similar to a Sasa, but not as vigorous. Wide pale green leaves, and short jointed greenish brown stems. About 3ft. x 1ft. Does not run. Z7.
YUSHANIA ANCEPS.
Straight erect glossy stems to perhaps 10ft carrying thin shiny leaves. a vigorous spreading species forming scattered clumps. Very hardy. Z6.
