SALIX BOYDII.
A tiny hybrid found in Scotland, growing very slowly to about 1 foot.
Tiny grey leaves, occasional catkins, gnarled branches. Z5.
SALIX HASTATA ‘WEHRHAHNII’.
Purple tinted stems, upright silver male catkins with yellow anthers in
April. Grows slowly to c.5ft. Z5.
SALIX LANATA
Known as the ‘Woolly Willow’, the leaves and young stems are covered in
silvery-grey wool, giving an overall silver effect. Yellow catkins in
spring. 4ft x 4ft. Z4.
SAMBUCUS ‘BLACK
LACE’.
Excellent new cultivar. Finely cut almost black foliage. Flowers pink in
bud, opening white, followed by black berries. 4ft x 4ft. Z7.
SAMBUCUS NIGRA
‘GUINCHO PURPLE’.
Rich wine-purple foliage, heads of white flowers followed by bunches of
black berries. 8ft x 8ft.. Z5.
SAMBUCUS RACEMOSA
PLUMOSA AUREA.
An extremely fine foliage shrub, having very deeply cut golden yellow
leaves. It has creamy yellow flowers, and red berries, but these are
secondary to the foliage. The next best thing to a Japanese Maple and a
lot easier to grow. Best in light shade. 7ft x 7ft. Z5. |
