GRASSES
GLYCERIA MAXIMA VARIEGATA.
Attractive green and white striped leaves reaching 30”; purplish green flowers. Will grow in water up to 6” deep, or in moist soil, where it can be invasive. Z6.
HAKONECHLOA MACRA AUREOLA.
Arching habit. Foliage is largely bright yellow with narrow dark green stripes, and tends to become flushed with pink or red in autumn. A striking container subject. best in partial shade. 18” x 18”. Z7.
HOLCUS MOLLIS ALBOVARIEGATA.
Low mat forming grass with blue green leaves having wide creamy margins, giving an almost white effect 8” x 18” or more. Z5.
HYSTRIX PATULA.
Bottle brush grass. Grown for its curious flower spikes giving it its common name, and for the blue-grey leaves. Up to 3ft. x 2ft. Z4.
IMPERATA CYLINDRICA RUBRA
Japanese blood grass. Upright foliage has red tips in spring, becoming solid red by late summer. Sometimes bears spiky white flowers. 18”. Z6.
KOELERIA GLAUCA.
A compact mound of glaucous blue green leaves. Upright silver green flower spikes. 12” x 12”. Z4.
LEYMUS ARENARIUS.
Densely tufted grass which forms slowly spreading clumps, and can be moderately invasive. Grown for the 2ft long pale blue-green leaves and spikes of blue grey flowers. Up to 2ft x indefinite. Z4.
LUZULA NIVEA.
Snowy Woodrush. Evergreen perennial forming clumps of flat leaves. Panicles of pure white flowers early to mid-summer. Shade tolerant. 24” x 18”. Z6.
LUZULA SYLVATICA HOHE TATRA.
Forms a large tussock of bright yellow broad evergreen leaves. Small chestnut coloured flowers 2ft x 18”. Z6.
LUZULA SYLVATICA MARGINATA.
As above, but leaves dark green with narrow white edges.
